polarizing reflectors

The polarizing Fe/Si supermirror have a very high polarization (>99%) thus a single reflection is already sufficient to obtain a beam with excellent polarization. Scince the reflection angles are small (a few degrees) only rather narrow beams can be typically handled. However, using parallel arrangements a larger beam width can be covered.

Particular features are:

  • high polarization of Fe/Si supermirror

  • simple integration into beam line

The guide element deflects the beam by 3.5°. All neutrons undergo at least one reflection, thus a wide spectrum of wavelengths are polarized.
